Burberry to host Here We Are exhibition during London Fashion Week

Christopher Bailey’s vision for Burberry is one that extends beyond fashion. The seasonal shows that the acclaimed British house presents during London Fashion Week are usually accompanied by a carefully curated exhibition, and this coming LFW is no exception. The Here We Are exhibition would celebrate the works of over 30 social and documentary photographers from the 20th century at the Old Sessions House.

From 18 September to 1 October, visitors will be treated to over 200 works spanning the three floors of the Old Sessions House – the same venue where Burberry will host its September 2017 collection. The location will be divided into themes reflecting the various aspects of the British way of life.

“When we started thinking about curating “Here We Are”, I knew I wanted it to celebrate a certain strand of British photography that I have always loved – one which documents the many and varied tribes and clans and classes that make up this island of ours,” said Bailey in a statement. The President and Chief Creative Officer of Burberry also revealed that the photographs that would be exhibited were a source of inspiration for the September collection. Following the presentation for the clothes, it would also be part of the Here We Are exhibition, and would be immediately available for purchase globally.

Guests at the Old Sessions House can pay a visit to pop-ups of Burberry’s all-day cafe Thomas’s, and browse through a collection of books at the Claire de Rouen bookstore.

The Here We Are exhibition is curated by Bailey, Director of Claire de Rouen Lucy Kumara Moore, and British photographer Alasdair McLellan, the latter being Burberry’s latest creative collaborator. And as co-curator of the exhibition, McLellan would be exhibiting over 70 photographs from his portfolio, the largest number of his works shown to date.
