2020 has been quite the unfortunate year, but we’re pleased to announce that it’s not all doom and gloom, even with a little more than a month to spare.
Inspired by the spirituality of the summer solstice — the longest day of the year and the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere — Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice is a limited edition gin that captures the hope, abundance, and beauty of the significant day.

For this, Hendrick’s Master Distiller Lesley Gracie called upon her Cabinet of Curiosities — a precious archive of her most treasured botanicals and essences (kept under lock and key, of course) — to concoct this flirtatiously floral incarnation. This very depository sits in the newly expanded Hendrick’s Gin Palace in Girvan, Scotland, as a beacon of inspiration for the avid botanist, and will serve as the foundation for all the small-batch gins that it helps create.
And it’s a promising debut. While keeping true to Hendrick’s original, the special edition sings with a playful lightness and crispness as aromas of berries and florals come through — although there’s not a specific flower you can tie this to because it was intended as a bouquet rather than individual blooms.
The finish leaves a gentle spice with a freshness that makes it perfect for — as the quirky brand calls it — day-casions like brunch or a picnic during the summertime. It’d also make an equally good seasonal spritz or festive cocktail, if you want something other than a good ol’ G&T.
Like the solstice itself, this gin is a poetic expression of temporality and will only be around for as long as its popularity would let it. If you’re already shopping for the festivities, you’ll still be able to snag a bottle or two at major e-commerce retailers like Grab Mart, William Grant & Sons LazMall & iShopChangi, otherwise, head over to one of Hendrick’s 50 partner bars — think Atlas, Jekyll & Hyde, and Straits Clan — where they will each offer their take on this bloomin’ expression with exclusive cocktails.
