October is no exception, so we’ve sorted this month’s top five dining pop-up experiences so that you can start booking today.
Armani/Privé’s outdoor terrace has been transformed into the ‘Hanging Gardens of Kyoto’, where guests are invited to enjoy a multi-sensory experience by walking through colourful canopies of blossoms and vines. You can create a personal taste profile at a series of scent-emitting stations before sampling bespoke concoctions inspired by botanical blended Tanqueray No. 10 gin, or indulge in five new garden-themed cocktails specially crafted by the mixology team, including The Botanist which features a blend of pear sake, Tanqueray No. 10 gin, Japanese shiso leaves, matcha green tea syrup, passion fruit and lime (HK$188), as well as the Garden Geisha made with aged Plum sake infused with delicate bamboo leaves, Tanqueray No. 10 gin, absinthe, cherry and Apérol (HK$188).

Isono heads to the Netherlands to bring us the third pop-up project of its ‘takeover’ series with Hendrik and Kamiel Buysse of blendbrothers. From 3 to 29 October 2016, the talented duo will offer spontaneous, natural and refined dishes that combine produce from their hometown in Zeeland with local ingredients from our city. Since Hendrik worked at Michelin-starred restaurants and Kamiel is a professional DJ and bartender, it’s only natural that other than lunch (HK$318 per person) and dinner (HK$628 per person) tasting menus, creative cocktails and music (DJ spins limited to Friday and Saturday nights) will also be on offer..

Michelin-starred executive chef Andrea Aprea, of Restaurant VUN at Park Hyatt Milan, is bringing a taste of northern Italy to Hong Kong with a three-night showcase at Grissini at the Grand Hyatt. The six-course menu (HK$1,180 per person) will feature Chef Aprea’s signature dishes that express the three fundamentals of his cooking philosophy: technique, innovation and respect for the tradition of Italian gastronomy.

Brasserie on the Eighth
Brasserie on The Eighth at Conrad Hong Kong will be transformed to SALT on the Eighth, as Australian chef and restauranteur Luke Mangan takes over the kitchen to present an 11-day pop-up experience, featuring exquisite dishes made with the freshest ingredients and inventive cooking techniques from his home country. Guests will get to choose between six- (HK$988) and eighth-course (HK$1,188) dinner menus, including the chef’s signature seafood creations such as ultra-fresh, sashimi-style Australian kingfish with zesty ginger, wild rocket and shallot, with selected items available à la carte or during weekend brunch and lunch services.

Following the success of its recent Mark Moriarty collaboration, Test Kitchen has announced a new pop-up project with Chef Mark Tan from Manila, who will be joined by a team of mixologist from The Curator — one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, located in the city’s Makati district — to present us with a three-night cocktail-paired menu that will accentuate your dining experience.

After last year’s incredible success, the Shangri-La International Festival of Gastronomy is back with 12 acclaimed celebrity chefs from different parts of the world, each stationing shortly at a different Shangri-La hotel along with a pop-up menu. This October, Island Shangri-La Hong Kong will play host to chef Frédéric Anton, from three Michelin-starred Le Pré Catelan in Paris, as he presents us with carefully crafted menus for a diversified gastronomic experience at Restaurant Petrus.

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental is stepping up their dining game in a big way by welcoming not one, but two gastronomic pop-ups this October. First to arrive will be sushi master Kenji Gyoten, who will present replicas of the omakase lunch (HK$3,500 per person) and dinner (HK$4,500 per person) from his three-Michelin-star bijou Fukuoka restaurant, using only the finest seasonal ingredients.

Arriving next is Scottish chef Isaac McHale from London’s famed Clove Club, who is set to bring a unique supper club pop-up experience featuring unconventional, flavoursome tasting menus (HK$3,688 per person) that begin with a Champagne cocktail reception with four snacks, followed by an eight-course meal. Pairings with six wines or non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.
