What comes to mind when you think of Seletar?
If the words Seletar Airport and Upper Seletar Reservoir popped up — you’re not the only one. As one of Singapore’s most undiscovered neighbourhoods, the former rubber plantation estate has seen a number of hidden restaurants and eateries pop up over the years to inject some life into the hood.

Don’t get us wrong, the area isn’t looking to become the next Dempsey — it still maintains an air of rustic charm with its wetlands and idyllic cycling routes — its dining spots are a brilliant addition to the quaint space.
Read on for all the must-eat restaurants and eateries to dine at when you’re in Seletar.

If you’re looking for a romantic spot to chill at, The Summerhouse will be the perfect locale for you. Apart from dishing out farm-to-fork dishes in its main black-and-white building, the establishment also has three stunning air-conditioned domes situated within the lush greenery and twinkly fairy lights for a special night out. Those looking to dine here during the day should check out Wildseed Cafe, located on the ground floor of The Summerhouse — the floral café and patisserie is home to delectable plates like the Wildseed Garden Arrabiata and the Sesame Chicken Pita.

You might miss out on Di Wei Teochew Restaurant if you’re not observant enough — the discreet, heritage Teochew spot finds itself just beside bright lights of The Summerhouse. Here, you’ll find your classic plates of braised duck, steamed pomfret and sweet yam paste, complete with a side of Teochew-styled cold crab if you’re early enough to get some.

It’s safe to say that Seletar is a pretty remote area of town, but Soek Seng 1954 Bicycle Cafe takes it one step further. The hidden cafe is situated quite literally beside Seletar Airport, a concealed location where guests can dine with unparalleled views of the planes landing and taking off behind them. Now, put aside your salad-eating habits and feast on the hearty dishes here instead. From local dishes like beef rendang to favourites like the Japanese gyudon, diners will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the menu here.

You’ve probably seen at least five (or ten) people you follow on Instagram at Wheeler’s Estate’s beautiful open lawn. Yet, the stunning establishment isn’t just a gram-worthy spot — the menu here is worth a trip to Seletar too. Think generous servings of lip-smacking Tequila & Lime Pork Spare Ribs and Oven Baked Halibut Fish, as well as sharing plates of pizza and wings to round up your meal.

If you’re not too fond of the crowd at more popular spots like Wheeler’s Estate, perhaps you’ll like to take a detour to 5 by Sans Facon, a French eatery serving classic dishes with a modern twist. Looking for something to win your heart (and stomach) over? We suggest a serving of the Salmon Spaghetti with lemongrass that’s been tossed in prawn jus and a slice of their delicious Lemon Double Meringue Tarte.
