Yesterday’s Mother’s Day celebrations saw us indulging a little more than usual, as we bonded with our mums over decadent brunches and potent tipples at our favourite dining spots. But if you didn’t manage to catch up with your beloved queen over the past weekend — probably because your sibling had already whisked her away for a short holiday, in an attempt to become her favourite child — it’s not too late to pamper her with a feast this week.

In case you can’t think of anywhere to go, we’ve rounded up three restaurants to consider. These eateries have introduced brand new items to their repertoires, and promise sumptuous food in a stylish setting. From lobster noodles to steak and a corn-based dessert, here are three dishes to try with mum this week.

Simmered egg noodles with Boston lobster by Jade

In Good Taste
This was so delicious, we slurped up every bite.

The dish: Springy egg noodles are tossed in a tasty mix of black soya sauce and crispy pork lard, before being served with succulent Boston lobster and a spicy XO chilli sauce. This dish is a new addition to Jade’s menu, which, together with the restaurant’s interiors, recently underwent a revamp.

The place: Following a two-week long refurbishment, Jade is now clad in soothing hues of blue and green, with a beautiful, specially commissioned wallpaper emblazoned with birds. The restaurant, which focuses on Cantonese cuisine, is also decorated with intricate ceramic vases and ornaments handcrafted by its multi-talented executive chef Leong Chee Yeng.

Price: S$39

Pure Black Angus prime rib steak by The Black Swan

In Good Taste
Why diet when you can have steak?

The dish: Dry-aged for 60 days to attain maximum tenderness, this well-marbled steak carries an intense nutty aroma. It is seared over apple wood at a minimum of 300 degrees Celsius for a smoky flavour and slightly charred exterior. The steak is one of several new offerings on The Black Swan’s repertoire, which recently underwent a makeover.

The place: The Black Swan is a posh Art Deco-inspired restaurant that specialises in Modern European cuisine. Its latest menu refresh has resulted in an expanded range of meats, alongside a greater variety of wines comprising 120 labels from Canary Islands, Syria, Lebanon and Greece.

 Hot Corn by Cassia

in good taste
Not your average corn on the cob.

The dish: Dessert takes a savoury turn in this Mexican-inspired, maize-based concoction, which comprises corn ice cream mixed with corn kernels, and pressed into a mould so it resembles corn on the cob. It is sprinkled with cayenne pepper and set atop a bed of caramelised pecans. The dish rounds off a five-course dinner prepared by South Korean chef Jungsik Yim, who runs the two-Michelin-starred Jungsik in Seoul. Yim will be in town on 19 May and 20 May, as part of a collaboration by Capella Singapore and Fine Dining Lovers.

The place: Cassia is a swanky Cantonese fine dining restaurant located at Capella Singapore.
