The Michelin Guide Singapore is back with a series of collaborations, this time with its first Michelin Guide Gastrobar pop-ups in March.
The Michelin Guide Gastrobar is hosted in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board under the SingapoRediscovers campaign, aimed at inviting diners to travel the world through their palates.
For this series of pop-ups, four bars and four Michelin-recommended restaurants will work together to showcase Singapore’s diverse dining scene. Each pop-up, hosted at the premises of the partnering bar, will be held over two days, featuring five handcrafted cocktails paired with bites or snacks.
Nicolas Achard, Managing Director of Michelin Food & Beverage Asia, comments: “We have seen the cocktail scene grow exponentially in Singapore over the past decade, placing it among the top capitals of the world when it comes to mixology.
It is thrilling for the Michelin Guide to bring the worlds of cocktails and food closer together to create new explorations and synergy between chefs and bartenders, and we hope this gives guests of both genres something to look forward to as they travel through their palate.”
The first pop-up (2 and 3 March) sees guests travelling to Italy with the menu from one Michelin-starred restaurant, Buona Terra, and Tess Bar & Kitchen.
Here, guests will be invited to re-explore some classic Italian dishes with a local twist with chef Denis Lucchi, coupled with Italian spirit or liquor based cocktails from head bartender Christyne Lee. The menu, which includes five drinks and five food pairings, comes at a neat S$140++.
If you’re thinking of swerving down south from Italy, we suggest heading straight to the pop-up (9 and 10 March) between Peruvian-born chef Daniel Chavez and Mexico’s Tamara Chavez from OLA and Joe Alessandroni of Junior the Pocket Bar.
Here, go on a journey across the different terrains of the Latin American continent with dishes like the Peruvian Ceviche Callao, and the Argentinian Choripan Messi, a hearty traditional grilled pork chorizo sandwich dressed with a homemade chimichurri sauce. These plates will be accompanied with drinks like the Junior the Pocket Bar’s take on the Fernet and Coke, crafted with Argentinian Malbec, Fernet Branca, Mixed Citrus and Coca Cola, which is then topped with a Minty Fruit Salad.
The Latin American menu is priced at S$130++ for five drinks and five food pairings.
Other collaborations include the ones between Zén and No Sleep Club (16 and 17 March) as well as Labyrinth and Native (23 and 24 March).
