As is the case for the past four years, the Michelin Guide Singapore unveils its Bib Gourmand list a week before the official unveiling of starred restaurants. The Bib Gourmand is a special category in the Guide, listing down restaurants and hawkers that serve quality food at wallet-friendly prices (at a maximum of $45 per head). This year, the Michelin Guide welcomes 12 new dining establishments to the list. The Bib Gourmand also saw a few dropouts from last year’s edition, bringing the total of restaurants featured to 58.
Since its first unveiling in 2016, the Michelin Guide has received criticisms from local diners at the lack of representation of certain food enclaves and iconic Singaporean dishes.

2019’s list has proven to be more diverse, with the addition of well-loved names like Indocafe, To-Ricos Guo Shi from Old Airport Road Food Centre and eateries from Bedok Interchange Hawker Center such as Bedok Chwee Kueh and Hock Hai Curry Chicken Noodle.

Other noteworthy fresh additions include Chef Kang’s Noodle House, a wanton mee hawker stall by chef Ang Song Kang of one-Michelin-starred restaurant Chef Kang’s kitchen, and Anglo Indian (Shenton Way) which has been a CBD lunch favourite for its fragrant biryani.

The list also welcomed back HJH Maimunah, a popular nasi padang restaurant that has been left out from the Bib Gourmand since its debut in 2016.
There were also a couple of slip-ups from the list since last year. Modern zichar restaurant New Ubin Seafood, newly-relocated restaurant The Coconut Club and satay bee hoon hawker Shi Wei Da are not on the list this time.
