The F1 Singapore 2017 races are knocking on the week’s door, plunging most of the city into anticipation for the speed-fuelled weekend to come. Singapore will become the focus of attention throughout the global racing circuit from 15 to 17 September, and excitement is mounting as the days draw closer.

It’s hard not to get sucked into the revelry, even if you can’t tell Kimi Räikkönen from Sebastian Vettel. Everyone wants a slice of the Grand Prix pie, and if you haven’t scored yourself a ticket, there’s no reason to fret just yet.

There’s a number of bars situated strategically around the track, each offering a vantage point for customers to become spectators of the F1 Singapore 2017 race. You don’t even have to fork out the hefty ticket price. You get to skip the crowd, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the circuit, with booze for company at any of these spots.

If this idea sounds tempting, here are the 5 best bars around town to catch the spectacle that is F1 Singapore 2017. Make reservations in advance, if possible.

There’s no more obvious choice to catch the race at than 1-Altitude. The rooftop bar offers a full view of the circuit from 282 metres above ground, allowing you to watch the race from one of the highest points in Singapore. This year, 1-Altitude is hosting an extravaganza known as The Circuit 2017 — featuring a Johnnie Walker party on Friday, a Martini bash on Saturday, and a Heineken race day fiesta on Sunday.

Singapore’s only Italian rooftop restaurant-bar is a one-stop shop for those looking to have dinner, drink and watch the race. Partake in mod-Italian cuisine, enjoy an aerial view of the race, and catch the nitty-gritty details on a livestream screened within the restaurant itself. Saturday is when you ought to head to Zafferano, as it’s got a full-day itinerary to keep you satisfied. We’d recommend you patronise the rooftop terrace lounge from 7pm to10 pm, as it’ll be hosting a free-flow happy hour that includes prosecco, house wines and beers.

Newly opened Drink is the sister bar to celebrity chef Davide Oldani’s Italian restaurant, Foo’d. This is the only one on the list that isn’t a rooftop spot. Instead, sitting in its alfresco area grants you the liberty of being right next to a spot by the track. Enjoy its happy hour promotions, free-flow tapas, and the cheap thrills of the speed demons zipping right past you.

Smoke & Mirrors

Smoke & Mirrors is another classic rooftop bar to scan the track, and it is perhaps the most optimal, given that it overlooks the Grandstand area. The bar is hosting a collaboration with Martini on Friday, where guests will be treated to exclusive concoctions made with the brand’s vermouths and sparkling wines. The outdoor tables are the most coveted, and each requires a minimum spend of S$128++ per person. Reserve ASAP.
