Another weekend looms in the horizon, and we can’t be more thankful. New bars have reared their head over the past couple of weeks, so those looking for a place to unwind after a trying week have nothing to fear.
Here’s what and where you can clink your glasses to come Friday and beyond.
Red Tail is the first flicker of life we’ve seen behind Zouk’s much-anticipated move to Clarke Quay. Touted as the new “Wine Bar”, it might not be the herald for the new Zouk’s opening yet (rumour has it that December is when doors open), but the snug cocktail joint does elevate Wine Bar’s drink offerings with an Asian-inspired twist. Head down to Red Tail if you’re looking for a fun place to have dinner and pre-drinks while the night is still young.
Red Tail is located at 3C River Valley Road, #01-04, S179022.
The folks behind trendy izakaya Neon Pigeon have turned to the Middle East for inspiration with their latest gastro-bar, Fat Prince. You get conceptual kebab “tacos” and duck fat hummus (aka drunk food done amazingly right) to munch on as you sample an alcoholic fare imported from and inspired by Morocco, Lebanon and Jordan.
Fat Prince is located at 48 Peck Seah Street, S079317.
One of the world’s most beloved jazz cafés is back again in Singapore. Not just exclusive for jazz fanatics, Montreux is a haven for lovers of live music to mingle and knock back a couple of well-made cocktails as the night wears on. Their signature drinks are named after famous jazz singers and songs, with classic flavours that you’d picture Sugar Kowalcyzk sipping to in Some Like It Hot.
Montreux Jazz Bar is located at Pan Pacific Orchard, 10 Claymore Road, S229540
Listen amigo, tequila doesn’t have to taste like regret. Super Loco is the latest gastro-bar to hit town with a curated beverage programme that showcases Mexican spirits at their best. Over 80 artisanal mezcals, raicillas and tequilas are available by the glass, alongside cocktail offerings crafted with fresh fruits and agave aplenty.
Super Loco is located at Customs House, 70 Collyer Quay #01-04, S049323.
