The team behind one of Singapore’s pioneering whisky lounges, Quaich Bar, has open The Copper Plate, a gastro-bar where whisky is served by the carafe rather than bottle. Leading the establishment is Matthew Ferguson-Stewart, former Southeast Asian ambassador at William Grants & Sons, and he will lend his expertise to the vast array of fine whiskies you can enjoy while at this casual new joint. This popular Australian mini golf club slash cocktail bar has made a home in the former residence of Shanghai Dolly along Clarke Quay. Holey Moley Golf Club’s zany twist on mini golf includes themed rooms that span Game of Thrones, Pac-Man and more to offer an alternative to your usual Friday night proclivities at Singapore’s top nightlife district. Aside from the games, a full-fledged cocktail bar with kitschy signature drinks and a food menu packed with bar bites are there within the compounds to sustain you through the night.

Another new whisky bar to arrive in our city is The Exciseman at the Esplanade. What makes it stand out is the bar’s repertoire of whiskies from independent bottlers, particularly Doulas Laing. Fans of the brand’s curious expressions like Big Peat and Timorous Beastie can head down to The Excise Man to enjoy the full range of blends from the bottlers, among others from labels like Single Minded and Provenance. The Raffles Hotel is a national icon in large part thanks to the Long Bar, the home of the Singapore Sling. The establishment has undergone extensive renovations in the past year, and is currently in the process of reopening. The bar, however, is up and running once more, with tropical decor that nods to the 20s in Singapore and plantation culture during the colonial era.
