Porsche introduces a new generation of the 911 to Singapore

You’ve heard of the Time Machine. Now welcome the Timeless Machine — the 8th generation version of Porsche’s hugely acclaimed 911 series. Unveiled at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, the uber cool sports car — available in two models with the Carrera S and the Carrera 4S — made a grand entrance alongside all its past seven variants, the first of which appeared on the scene 55 years ago.

“The eighth generation 911 is a timeless machine that has upped the game with a suite of new technological innovations for better handling, performance, comfort and safety,” said Henrik Dreier, general manager, Singapore, Porsche Asia Pacific.

Staying true to Porsche’s aesthetics, this latest model incorporates elements from the past and the future. The exterior, for instance, has an absolutely new look, with noticeable wider wheel housings over the 20-inch front wheels and the 21-inch rear wheels. Electrical pop-out door handles, flush integrated into the sides, draw attention to the car’s tapered contours.

The sleek interior is influenced by the Porsche Advanced Cockpit concept, and features a clean, straight lined dashboard with recessed instruments. The centre screen of the Porsche Communication Centre (PCM) is 10.9 inches wide, offering easy, distraction-free access to the driver, and comes with a compact switch unit with five buttons underneath to help control important vehicle functions.

With 450 hp at its core, the Porsche 911 boasts a 3.0-litre flat-six turbocharged engine. The 911 Carrera S is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 308 km/h, while the 911 Carrera 4S completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 306 km/h; true for both models with the Sport Chrono Package. Power is delivered by the new eight-speed dual-clutch Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission.

The cherry on the cake, however, is the 911’s pioneering Wet Mode technology. This amazing safety feature function detects water on the road, preconditions the control systems accordingly and even warns the driver.

The pricing for the 911 Carrera S starts at SG$546,588 and that for the 911 Carrera 4S starts at SG$584,088.
