5 designers to check out at International Furniture Fair 2017

The annual Singapore Design Week kicked off its fourth edition over the weekend, marking the start of a 10-day celebration of all things creative. This year’s instalment features more than 100 events islandwide, including SingaPlural, International Furniture Fair and Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade Classics.

With Maison&Objet Asia pulling out of this year’s lineup, Singapore Design Week sees a stronger focus on designers from Singapore and around the region. One of the platforms, the International Furniture Fair, showcases both established and up-and-coming furniture makers — featuring some of the best designers from Singapore and beyond.

Among the big names at the International Furniture Fair is local industrial designer Nathan Yong, who clinched the title Designer of the Year at the prestigious President’s Design Award in 2008, and was a juror for the same award in 2011 and 2012. Dubbed the “godfather” of Singapore product design, he has inspired many local and regional designers alike.

To gear you up for the International Furniture Fair that takes place from 9 to 12 March 2017, here are 5 designers and furniture makers from around the region to look out for.
