If you think a ball of yarn can hardly qualify as a novelty item, you might just change your mind when you see Tiffany & Co’s limited edition piece from its homeware collection. The ball of yarn is made of hand-spun sterling silver and there are only five pieces available in the world, with one costing a casual S$12,108.

S$299,000 can almost get you a flat with three bedrooms in Singapore. It can also get you a beautiful Malachite bathtub by Florence-based designer Luca Bojola. The swanky bathtub is carved of turquoise malachite, a rare gemstone. And if that’s not opulent enough, the bathtub is sitting on legs made of 24K gold.

Sweet dreams are made of solid gold, Italian silk and customised diamond buttons. Well, at least with the regal Baldacchino Supreme bed. A collaboration between English designer Stuart Hughes and Hebanon by Fratelli Basile Interiors of Nocera Superiore, the bed costs S$7.2 million and is most probably the world’s most expensive bed.
Only two of the beds will ever be made, and each bed is hand-made from premium materials including 107 kilograms of solid gold, ash and cherry wood and Italian silk — along with a headboard that’s of course, customised with diamond buttons.

While smart home appliances are a good investment for your space, we’re not too sure about a blinged up doorbell that’ll set you back a staggering S$135,00. The ultra-expensive doorbell in question is Ring’s limited Crown Jewel Edition Video Doorbell created in collaboration with jewellery specialist Bijan.
Available exclusively from Selfridges, each piece features instant motion-activated alerts, HD video and two-way talk through built-in microphone and speakers — as well as infrared night vision. Besides being limited edition, the doorbell is also diamond, sapphire and gold-encrusted. Additionally, all the proceeds from the Bling Rings will be donated to UK charities supporting the reformation of former criminals as they re-enter society, so you get to do good at the same time.

This fireplace by German manufacturer Iron Dog takes the term “burning money” quite literally. Designed in collaboration with sculptor Joseph Michael Neustifter, this special-edition fireplace is available in silver, cast iron or solid gold — and emblazoned with the word Huraxdax, which is Bavarian for “a wellspring of happiness”.
Each No.5 takes about two months to manufacture and weighs close to 250 kilograms. The gold version reportedly comes with a S$5.4 million price tag.
