Often enough, we get bored of the furniture in our homes, and we get the itch to move them and play with different orientations. Yet, however much we shift them, they’re going to look like the same blue sofa, the same brown table, the same carpet. What we really need are pieces that can adapt, things that are easily morphed into something else with the flick of a wrist. Here are 3 pieces of furniture that are designed to be changed.

If you ever wish for a table that you can take apart and stack together to save space, here’s one for you. StokkeAustad, an Oslo design studio, has come together with Norwegian brand Elementa, to create minimal tabletops that rests on a tubular steel trestle base. It’s perfect for places that are ever-changing, such as an office.

Tono

While Foster + Partners often focus on architecture (some works in Singapore include: Supreme Court, Expo Mrt station, that new building on Beach Road), they’re no stranger to industrial design. The architecture firm has come together with Spanish brand Porcelanosa to create Tono, minimalist bathroom furnishings that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The beauty of these lies in the ease of mixing and matching the products, which is amazing if you’re into customisation. They’ve also designed pre-fabricated units, which allow for easy installation into pre-existing buildings. Don’t go crazy switching out your bathroom cabinets too often.

It can definitely be applied to a home, especially in a small space where some alone-time is needed. You can also customise it to include bag hooks or electrical plugs.
