Making your morning cup of coffee, boiling water, and getting your fruit juice fix just got a whole lot more stylish, thanks to luxury Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana and manufacturer of upmarket domestic appliances, Smeg. The two brands have collaborated, yet again, to bless our kitchen tops with vibrant, swish appliances the likes of toasters, citrus juicers, blenders and stand mixers. We’re talking espresso machines emblazoned with horse-drawn carriages, kettles with cheery floral motifs, and slow juicers spruced up with cacti and lemon paintings.
Titled Sicily Is My Love, the range of aesthetically-pleasing appliances was launched at the recent Salone del Mobile, Milan’s annual furniture and design fair. Its vibrant aesthetic was inspired by the citrus, floral and coastal elements of the Southern Italian region and Sicily — home to Dolce & Gabbana founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The result is appliances covered with delicate floral motifs and images of the enthralling Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes and decorative acanthus leaves — which are reminiscent of the two brands’ strong “Made in Italy” values.
This partnership comes after the Italian brands’ successful collaboration last year, which saw them rolling out 100 unique hand-painted refrigerators that cost S$56,378 each.
The Sicily Is My Love line goes on sale in October this year — so get ready to give your kitchen tops a major (style) upgrade. With kitchen appliances that double up as art, you can now truly be a domestic goddess.
