The sluggish middle of the day is always a hurdle to surpass throughout the work week, so you ought to maximise that time during the weekend to compensate. Booking yourself an extensive massage session or lounging with some afternoon tea seems like two ideal options, and in this light, The Grand Hyatt Singapore has taken liberties to combine both with its Spa Afternoon Tea package. Believe us when we say the experience completely revitalises your day.

Inside Damai spa.

Designed to be shared between two people, the journey begins when you walk past an oasis in the middle of the hotel to arrive at Damai spa. The word “damai”, which roughly translates to “peace”, teases to the serenity you’ll experience during the 75-minute massage ahead. The treatment takes place in the couples’ room, which is designed to mimic the tropical outdoors. Palm fronds decorate the back of the room, a soft green contrast to the resort-style tub and treatment beds spotted around.

The massage begins with a warm foot bath before proceeding to the actual treatment, which is customised to your specific physical needs, be it healing, de-stressing and so forth. Every masseuse is trained in various therapeutic styles, and ours was particularly skilled in working the pressure points in our body to alleviate tense muscle aches. The fact that each masseuse has a different style also adds to the exclusivity of the package. Once the 75-minutes of bliss ends, you are led to freshen up in the expansive en-suite bath and dressing room, before you head to 10 Scotts for tea.

Some bites one can expect to find at the tea.

10 Scotts is backed by a waterfall, so the zen views carry over from the massage to your meal. The buffet-style tea encompasses continental dishes like freshly-baked scones, an artisanal cheese selection, a salad bar, fresh seafood and meats, so there’s something for every preference. An equally extensive tea and coffee menu give diners plenty of fresh brews to choose from, but there’s always the option for something headier — free-flow Perrier-Jouët champagne.
After moving through the savoury bites, a dessert stand arrives at the table, lined top-down with morsels that range from two small cones piped with a nutty white chocolate and black sesame mousse, dense chocolate madeleines studded with candied fruit and dark chocolate, as well as fresh berries with cream. Best part? The staff walk around with refills for items on the tray.
The Grand Hyatt Singapore’s Spa Afternoon Tea package now makes midday a time where you can have your cake, eat it, and enjoy a full-on massage while you’re at it. So find an excuse to treat yourself there this weekend. If we may suggest: surviving the past five days is one.
The Grand Hyatt Spa Afternoon Tea package is priced at S$400++ for two, or S$450++ for two with champagne. For more information, click here
