Since their last collaboration in 2007, Evian and Christian Lacroix have come together again for the launch of the annual limited edition Evian designer bottles. This time, the haute couture house has reinvented the iconic Paseo pattern to pay tribute to bottled water’s ‘live young’ spirit. The delicate embroidery design was used for the first time outside Christian Lacroix’s fashion collections on the first Evian limited edition bottle in 2007.
We spoke to Sacha Walckhoff, Creative Director of the House of Christian Lacroix, about what went on behind the collaboration, and what’s going on at the esteemed couture house.
3 words that I’d use to describe the Evian x Christian Lacroix bottle collection are… flamboyant, Parisian, and youthful.
The inspiration behind the reinvented Paseo pattern is… the pure expression of today’s Christian Lacroix creative universe while reflecting Evian’s ‘live young’ image. We have always strived to infuse its creations with playfulness, wonder, colours, and this very unique mix and match attitude.
The original Paseo design, iconic to the House of Christian Lacroix can be seen… on an amazing dress worn by Madonna, and photographed by Steven Klein.
The distinct similarity in designing couture and other products… (is) the attention to detail. Anything we create in the House of Christian Lacroix, we do it with the same attention to detail as with Haute Couture’s unique and high-end wonders.
This collaboration made us at Christian Lacroix realise that… our brand was able to extend outside the fields of Haute Couture and RTW. Today, the House of Lacroix has a home decor and a table ware collection, and we just lauded a brand new collection of furniture too!
The 21st century Christian Lacroix person is someone who… likes to mix and match, craves adventures, respects and understands the liberty and choices of those around them. Ultimately, a citizen of the world.
Now, who wants some haute water? I know we do.
