Ever since Prada shuttled out corset belts on its Fall 2016 runway, the vintage accessory has been revived as a many-faced beast. Instead of being used as a mere waist-cincher, corset belts have become the focal point of many outfits, found beyond formal wear.

They can be worn to accentuate the figure when paired with an oversized piece, or simply just to add flair to the midsection. Whether with office attire, daytime denim, or a trendy off-shoulder top, corset belts find a place in nearly any outfit, provided you know just how to style them.

Here are some looks for inspiration, from the street style folks who do it best.

A slouchy work shirt, equally loose straight-legged pants and leather slides are given form with a soft black corset belt. This look wouldn’t be amiss on a day where you’ve got a dinner date, but errands to run about town too.

A denim shirt dress and thigh high suede boots are locked in by an alligator leather, double-buckled corset. We’re calling this the perfect Saturday evening outfit.

Shun the pantsuit in favour of a printed, matching blazer and skirt duo for the office. Introduce a slimmer corset belt banded delicately around the waist to cut the loud prints.

Hailey Baldwin belts up her ribbed cardigan — which she has styled off-shoulder — with a nude pink corset. Factor in the leather skinny jeans with the on trend choker, and you’ve got an outfit that radiates femme fatale off duty.

Statement ruffled sleeves with mom jeans send a big enough message that you prize comfort with style. Throw on a corset with straps to add a little edginess to the outfit, while drawing attention to the ruffled details on your shirt.
