If there’s anything we’ve noticed in the luxury retail sector over the past year, is that brands are hedging their bets on Singapore as being Asia’s central fashion hub.
Cult-favourite luggage brand Rimowa recently opened a sprawling new space at the Raffles Hotel. Around the same time, Style Theory made the jump from e-commerce to brick-and-mortar with a boutique at 313 Somerset. The latest in line to make their presence known is Missoni, who over the weekend opened their first store in Singapore.
The flagship boutique of the Italian luxury fashion label is located well within the luxury zone at Marina Bay Sands. Creative director and president Angela Missoni was the visionary behind the concept and design of the store, ensuring that it stays true to the dynamism of the Missoni brand which is all about their vibrant knitwear.
Step through the glass doors and you’ll find yourself in a 150m2 space akin to heaven for style mavens and mavericks. Missoni’s womenswear, menswear, beachwear, and accessories are all precisely spaced out across the racks alongside the collection of their diffusion line, M Missoni. Mirrors are also aplenty so you can quickly see what looks good on you without having to trudge to the changing room.
However, the devil’s in the details. Comfortable lounge chairs are for the ever-encouraging partner to rest on as their better half is busy with the merchandise. The pastel colours of the store also allow for the clothes to stand out with their unique and vivid colours. Each of the main sections are also divided with plush rugs. The soft, warm lights are just the cherry on top as they help set an intimate yet welcoming environment for the discerning shopper.
“It’s very exciting to have this opportunity to bring the Missoni brand to Singapore’s most iconic luxury mall,” Angela Missoni said. “Singapore is the perfect location for us to debut our flagship boutique and we hope this will open up new doors for Missoni to expand the brand within the whole Southeast Asia region.”
