Now that Fashion Week has officially wrapped up, there are few things to really get excited for — like shopping.
In fact, we’ll have plenty of reason to do so this October. The most anticipated release of the month will come from Jil Sander (the designer, not the brand) and her revived collaboration with Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo.
Part of the hype is because Sander has been relatively quiet on the fashion front since she left her namesake label in 2013. That, and because we’re counting on the German designer (and the mistress of minimalism) to finally cleanse our sartorial palate.
The +J Collection will only be unveiled at the end of October. Still, there are other fashion launches to keep your eye on this month, such as Burberry’s range of limited-edition handbags (they’ll only be here for a week more!) and Coach’s surprise collaboration with Jennifer Lopez.
Read on to see what else you should add to your luxury fashion shopping list this October.
Burberry’s travelling “Animal Kingdom Showcase” has finally made its stop here, and with it arrives some limited-edition pieces from the brand. Namely the Pocket Bag and the TB Bag: the first is offered in exclusive colours like black, navy and dark green, and the latter in a special two-tone canvas and leather edition, along with an orange woven leather one inspired by the Burberry check. You’ll also find silk scarves, crossbody leather phone cases and even AirPod cases on display at the pop-up, which is hard to miss with its candy pink interiors brightening up The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
The Burberry Animal Kingdom Showcase runs until 14 October at the Grand Colonnade South on Level 1, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
Last year, Prada introduced its sustainable Re-Nylon line of bags made from Econyl, a regenerated nylon fabric. Now, the brand is expanding its Re-Nylon offerings for the first time to include ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories. Amongst them are sporty pieces like padded jackets, T-shirts and sneakers, as well as dressier options like slim trousers, full skirts and cocktail dresses combined with elements of the original Prada nylon backpack from 1984. Prada’s Monolith combat boots have also been re-worked in nylon, and there are even more bag styles to choose from, such as totes, bucket bags and belt bags.
The Re-Nylon 2020 collection is now available at Prada ION Orchard.
The Vampire’s Wife x H&M
It’s that time of the year again: H&M has announced its new designer collaboration, and it’s with The Vampire’s Wife. You’ve likely seen the cult London label’s glamorous prairie dresses and ruffled minidresses on the red carpet, worn by the likes of Cate Blanchett, Alexa Chung, Dakota Johnson and even Kate Middleton. Designer Susie Cave has stuck to those same romantic silhouettes for her H&M capsule, making them out of lace (including a shiny, silver version) and velvet from recycled fibres. There are also pieces to style with those dresses, like a frilled cotton collar and a glamorous lace cape. Aside from clothing, the capsule also offers statement accessories like charm necklaces and rings, featuring motifs like eyes, hearts and vampire fangs — just in time for Halloween.
The Vampire’s Wife x H&M will be available at all H&M stores, as well as hm.com, from 22 October.
If you’re a fan of Daniel Lee’s sculptural bags for Bottega Veneta (who isn’t?), you’ll want to add the new Crisscross clutch to your collection. The bag first made its appearance at Bottega Veneta’s Fall/Winter 2020 runway show, but it won’t be long before you see the twisted, intrecciato woven design everywhere on your Instagram feed. This version in hot pink (or “lollipop”, as the brand calls it) will certainly stand out, especially since it’s only available at Dover Street Market stores.
The Bottega Veneta Crisscross clutch (S$3,980) will be available at Dover Street Market Singapore from 8 October.
Staying true to its roots, Coach has announced a very New York collaboration with none other than Jennifer Lopez. The singer, who has been an ambassador for the American fashion brand since 2019, was called on to design her very first handbag, resulting in a special edition of Coach’s Hutton bag. Lopez made her mark on the crossbody bag with luxe materials like calf leather and exotic snakeskin trims, along with a special hangtag featuring her signature. “I really wanted the Coach x Jennifer Lopez Hutton to feel like me,” said Lopez. “It’s a bag that makes me look pulled together and ready for anything.”
The Coach x Jennifer Lopez Hutton bag (S$950) is available at all Coach stores and on coach.com.
