On Thursday evening last week, Virgil Abloh’s Off-White raised eyebrows at Paris Fashion Week with a controversial Spring 2018 collection that doubled as an homage to the late Princess Diana. The creative polymath’s streetwear tropes took a backseat to hoop skirts, frothy tulles, and satin dresses.

The Lady Di references and major Naomi Campbell appearance were clearly the highlights of the session, but equally noteworthy were the curiously plastic-wrapped stilettos and booties that are part of yet another collaboration. This time, it’s with Jimmy Choo.

A few days before unveiling the shoe designs on his runway, Abloh posted a hint of his inspiration on Instagram: A movie still of Disney Cinderella’s sparkling glass slipper. Instead of having his designs sculpted in glass, Abloh conveniently — and quite unsurprisingly, in line with his usual irreverent tendencies — remade the luminous lustre by enrobing them in clear PVC.

As Naomi Campbell regally strode into view in a pair of white cycling shorts and a double-breasted blazer, and stood in front of a troupe of 36 models to close Off-White’s showcase, it was Abloh’s post-modern Jimmy Choo glass slippers that stole the show.

The capsule collection isn’t limited to just strappy slippers. Spanning booties and flat sandals festooned with fantastical tulles and hothouse florals, the 27-piecer will definitely have the perfect outré footwear you can test the hot new Kirakira+ filter on.

From now till 4 October, pre-order and get your Off-White Jimmy Choo shoes at Jimmy Choo boutiques (Paragon and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands) ahead of its official launch in February 2018.
