Let’s not beat around the bush: The Academy Awards, or more fondly referred to as the Oscars, is the annual award ceremony that truly matters. Despite constant blunders (remember 2016’s #OscarsSoWhite, or last year’s envelope snafu?), there’s no denying that the whole award season leads up to the Oscars. It is the pinnacle of the cinematic sphere, and the most prestigious Hollywood gathering of the year. Well, the wait is over, and the Oscars 2018 is finally here.
At the beginning of the year, the Golden Globes red carpet was awash with all-black attire as part of the #TimesUp initiative — but at the Oscars, rousing speeches (google “inclusion rider”) took the place of statement pins and sartorial manifestos. Meaning: Red carpet glitz was back in business.
Hollywood’s biggest and brightest, particularly those on the acting ballot, stepped up in their most chic red carpet looks: From Best Actress nominee Saoirse Ronan’s blush-hued Calvin Klein gown to Oscar darling and Best Actor nominee Timothée Chalamet’s Berluti by Haider Ackermann whiteout. Also as expected, The Black Panther cast came looking fiercely stellar. Here, see all the leading ladies and gents of the Oscars 2018.
