Back in July, Louis Vuitton’s menswear style designer created a collection with NikeLab. The collaboration shouldn’t come as a great shock, since Kim Jones has always had an appreciation for streetwear culture since he was young. His artistic direction at Louis Vuitton has been highly celebrated, and his interest for streetwear has definitely been incorporated into the brand’s collections.
His last collaboration with Nike revolved around making athletes’ lives easy and fuss free. It’s also designed for comfort and practicality – which is probably one of the main reasons why the ‘atheleisure’ trend is so popular. If described, the clothes from the NikeLab x Kim Jones collection would resemble origami, starting flat and folded in a specific way to make up a portable and easy package.
The upcoming collection focuses on the same concept of portable and packable clothing, but features a new patented Tech Fleece technology. The pieces include reversible bomber jackets, hoodies, and fleece pants – soft fabrics in contrast with the Windrunner jackets in the previous collection. In addition, minimal seams and interior straps are also incorporated for convenience and storage.
New colours of the Kim Jones x NikeLab Air Zoom LWP will also be presented alongside the launch of their fleece range.
It’s definitely important to have the right gear – especially when you’re constantly on-the-go. The new collection launches tomorrow, 22 September 2016, on their official website and in select NikeLab stores.
