These chic, comfy bedroom slippers are the first thing you’ll put on every morning

Now that we’re all in the midst of elevating our home life, it’s time to reconsider slippers.

Before the pandemic, the slippers you wore in the house may have varied very little from the blue and white ones you often see at the coffeeshop. Today, our understanding of the fuss-free flip-flops has evolved. For Spring/Summer 2021, designers offered up an array of chic alternatives that are boldly branded or made with luxe materials like leather and suede — good enough to wear outside.

We’re already betting on Balenciaga’s shearling slides becoming a hit, and not just because every shoe Demna Gvasalia touches turn to gold. They satisfy our current fetish for fuzzy footwear, which itself a part of something bigger: a need for comfort. So if you’ve already found the perfect plush robe and the loungewear ensembles to keep you cosy, why not top it off with a pair of soft slippers?

We’ve compiled a whole range of them, from faux fur slides that feel as good as the real thing, to stylish printed slippers that you’d honestly want to show off outside. Find out what your feet will fancy in the bedroom and beyond as we bunker down for another month of working from home.

Believe it or not, fur isn’t all bad. Brooklyn label Ariana Bohling uses cruelty-free, ethically-sourced alpaca fur for its chic footwear, which are handcrafted by Peruvian artisans. One example is the brand’s beloved Spa slides, which cushion your feet with memory foam insoles and micro velour lining.

If you’d like to avoid fur but still embrace its fuzziness, look no further than Apparis’ Jasmine slippers. They’re made with the New York brand’s signature Pluche fabric, which mimics the look and feel of real fur. Delight in their softness when you slide them on to conquer yet another work-from-home day.

Ugg needs no introduction. Neither does the Fuzette, the brand’s bestselling fluffy slippers. Ugg’s sheepskin slip-ons have recently been spotted on everyone from Selena Gomez to the Hadid sisters, earning them a cult status. And what’s there not to love? The Fuzettes feature an open-toe, cross-over strap design that’s easy to wear, and their platform rubber soles give you just the right amount of boost to go about your work-from-home day.

For a dose of decadence for the everyday, look no further than these quilted slippers. Imagine slipping these on your feet, feeling the plush, fleece lining, your toes kept warm within the beautifully decorated cotton uppers. And did we mention the soles are made of suede? For a touch of baroque in your day-to-day routine, try these Versace slippers. They feature the Italian brand’s famous jungle print — vividly etched into our minds thank to Jennifer Lopez — and its Medusa motif. These colourful cotton slippers would also go perfectly with a Versace robe, as approved by Drake and Kylie Jenner.

These fancy, frilly slippers look good enough for The Outside, and are in fact built for it with their leather soles and lining. You should show them off when we can do brunch again, but until then, we’d reserve them for Friday nights in, when you’re binge-watching Sex and The City and Gossip Girl yet again.

Balenciaga does slippers just like it does sneakers and sandals — with a bold attitude. These slides feature the same Balenciaga logo that is on your favourite designer T-shirt. They’re also made with faux shearling, so eco-conscious hypebeasts need not fret.

If you define luxury by simplicity and subtlety, these Loewe slippers will be your new favourite thing. Crafted entirely from suede in Italy, they feature only a hint of branding through an debossed Anagram and embroidered logo. Their pale blue hue makes us think of calming settings, like a Zen garden. Hopefully you’ll be mentally transported to one when you wear them at home.
