Just in case you were looking for a dinner dress for your Christmas beach vacay, or simply on a hunt for the perfect black-tie outfit which isn’t covered entirely in sequins, but still says “I’m ready for the holidays” – you’re in luck. Enter the refined Valentino number we’re all lusting over.
This guipure and brocade dress made its debut in Valentino’s Resort 2017 collection, which was greatly inspired by Cuba. A sleek lady-like dress made mainly of a cotton guipure lace bodice attached to a brocade skirt at the waist, it evokes a sensuous yet refined tropical quality.
“The thing we love about Cuba is the many different memories of the place – Africa, Spanish, ’50s America,” said the brand’s (now ex) designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri. With that in mind, the collection’s key feature are Cuba’s national flower, the white ginger lily, and other tropical motifs. The fashion house’s mascot, butterflies, also made appearances amongst the highly-detailed pieces.
Complete with a silk lining, the guipure and brocade dress is embellished with eight Tropical Dream brocade appliqués. Complete the look with a pop of bright red lips (the brand’s signature colour as well), and lightly-tousled hair.
