2017 has been quite a rollercoaster ride for Chloé, what with creative director Clare Waight Keller ending her six-year-long tenure for an unlikely move to Givenchy at the beginning of the year.
Not long after, it was announced that Louis Vuitton womenswear designer, Natascha Ramsay Levi, who had been working with Nicolas Ghesquière since his Balenciaga period, would be the new successor of the leading role. This was followed by the the recent Net-a-Porter exclusive capsule. And now this.
Stepping into the French maison’s very first Singapore boutique felt as if we were transported into the pastel-perfect wonderland of Wes Anderson. Housed in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the intimate 184-metre-square store is a splendour of millennial powder pinks, dusty greens and precise symmetry.
Beaunotte stone floors and sculptural geometric walls underpin the boutique’s interior. The plush-meets-hard surfaces — velvet next to marble, brass side by side with wood — lend a soft brutalist feel, aptly aligned with the Chloé girl’s penchant for rugged femininity. Entering through the warm wooden archways, selections of ready-to-wear apparel from the latest season are delicately hung on suspended copper racks.
Rows of shoes and bags are nestled in corners so pretty, they make #cornergoals a thing. Hidden behind sliding doors are secluded boudoir-inspired fitting rooms.
In tandem with the boutique opening, a limited edition orchid-inspired Faye bag is up for grabs. With just eight pieces available, this floral patchwork bag is as exclusive as it gets. If eye candy spaces don’t excite you enough, experiencing a first-hand feel of the special Faye is reason enough to pay a visit to Chloé’s inaugural boutique.
