Conspicuous branding isn’t for the faint-hearted, but do it right and you’re guaranteed to get second looks. A rebellion against the blankness of minimalism, loud logos have made their way into high-fashion labels. Brand-emblazoned bags are now a thing if you’re looking to make a statement.
With Maria Grazia Chiuri at the helm, Dior re-establishes its stance on female empowerment by fearlessly branding its entire collection. Gucci also blends eastern and western influences by pairing a dragon’s head with gothic fonts.
Over at Louis Vuitton, the label steps out of its comfort zone by giving the Alma a much-needed facelift, with the ever-revolutionary Nicholas Ghesquière placing Vuitton’s name boldly across the bag amidst flashes of vibrant colours.
Here are five of our favourite brand-emblazoned bags that have made their mark, loud and proud.
It was clear that Maria Grazia Chiuri wanted to make a statement for her debut at Dior, and it translated to her accessories too. In line with her ‘Dio(r)evolution’, this leather shoulder bag comes boldly emblazoned with ‘J’Adior’ in contrasting gold lettering to make for a rebellious take on a classic silhouette.

Gucci makes a case for female empowerment this season as well, only instead of the stereotypical phoenix, the Italian house uses the dragon. Representing power, strength and good luck, the mythological creature — a recurring motif throughout the collection — is made from enamel-coloured brass and serves as the bag’s clasp. Further down, the brand’s name is applied across in gothic typography, a juxtaposition to the feminine satin shoulder strap and oriental vibes of the dragon.
In place of printing his last name on the bag, Christopher Kane decided to take things up a notch by spelling it out with charms. Hanging from rivets on the textured leather bag, the detachable gothic charms complement the three-dimensional stones to create an eclectic gypsy-esque bag. For a day out in town, attach the strap to carry it crossbody style.
Once prim and very ladylike, the classic Alma bag gets a good dose of sportiness for the season with graphic prints that reflect the “Louis Vuitton Race” story. Embossed details on the Epi leather and contrasting monograms on the handle add to the bag’s unique brand of boldness. You’ll want to keep your outfit minimal for this one.
Already a staple in the brand, the Logo Purse features the J.W. anchor made of plated brass and contrasted against a deep navy blue leather bag. Thanks to a well-crafted structured shape, the bag will easily take you from work to after-dark activities with its minimalism and versatility.
