The partnership came as a response to the growing popularity of pearl jewellery in the menswear scene, and the Mikimoto x Comme des Garçons collection comes in designs that blend the sensual White South Sea or Akoya Mikimoto pearls with Comme des Garçons logos or silver links commonly seen on chunky chain necklaces in bold, statement-making styles.
The Mikimoto x Comme des Garçons capsule collection, with price tags that range from US$2,800 to US$39,000 (approx. S$3865 to S$53,844) is scheduled to launch in mid-February at Mikimoto’s Ginza store, as well as select Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores across the globe.
