Audemars Piguet’s new limited edition Royal Oak is perfect for the chilly months ahead

There’s a reason why classics withstand the test of time so well; they constantly get reinvented in little ways that remind of its charm and ingenuity.

The Royal Oak is one such watch, and the boys at Audemars Piguet know of its appeal all too well, because they’ve just dropped yet another surprise revamp. This time, the quiet drop comes in the form of a Selfwinding Chronograph, a 38mm timepiece that has all the trimmings of the iconic model, but in a frosty colourway that’s just the watch you’ll need all winter.

Housed within an 18K white gold case, the watch’s silvery body and all its signature faceted elements draw the eye slowly to the textured Grande Tapisserie dial, this time finished in an icy shade of sky blue. The subdials are rendered the same colour, with tonal blue rings around each for better readability, with luminous hands and hour markers to provide legibility in the dark. This chronograph is, after all, a sporty tool watch through and through.

Other than a refreshed colourway and precious metal body, the brand has kept most of the Royal Oak’s silhouette and details intact, keeping both purists — and those looking for something a little different — happy. The in-house, self-winding calibre 2385 runs the show within, with a matching 18K gold oscillating weight that keeps up with the watch’s luxe facade.

As a true limited edition, this Royal Oak will only see 100 examples make it out of Le Brassus, priced at S$87,700 each. To learn more and possibly reserve your own, visit Audemars Piguet here.
