We could think of a million different ways to celebrate the hottest few months of the year (kicking back on a beach at St. Barts with a Mai Tai in hand being one of them) but IWC has managed to outdo our summer plans with their interpretation. The aptly-named and freshly-released IWC “Summer Editions” is a collection of special straps and a watch that will tide you through the the sweltering heat in absolute class.

Sailing enthusiasts will revel in the new Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph (Ref. IW390507) for its timeless functionality. Previously only available in slate or silver-plated variations, the watch now gets the well-deserved nautical treatment of a vibrant blue dial.
White counters, rhodium-plated hands and the chronograph’s red second hand punctuate the cool hue within the 43.5mm stainless steel case watch. The same 89361 manufacture calibre with flyback function powers the sporty timepiece, well visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case-back.

For those looking to spice up their current collection, the Schaffhausen Manufacture’s second surprise for the IWC “Summer Editions” collection consists of fabric straps in a seasonal blue or light grey hue. The Italian-made NATO straps are trimmed with calf leather, and will fit popular IWC timepieces such as the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII, Portofino Automatic and Chronograph, and Portugieser Chronograph. Both colours will well match your entire weekend wardrobe on that chartered yacht, but contrasting trimmed versions are also available if you can’t decide on one.
Regardless, the IWC “Summer Editions”series look set to be transcend temperatures with its rather muted colourway, though it’ll only be in stores till the season transitions to colder weather again later this year.
