Overdrive: Bentley Continental 24 celebrates Nürburgring entry

Bentley has long been synonymous with the world of luxury, but beneath that swanky silhouette and quilted leather-clad seats usually lies a hulking W12 engine responsible for earning the brand its reputation as a racing pedigree. However, for discerning speed junkies, sometimes the fastest Continental just isn’t exclusive enough — even if it’s quicker than the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso with a top speed of 336kph.

Everyone knows how beautifully a Bentley drives on the road, but to remind everyone of its excellence on the race track as well, the carmaker has launched the Bentley Continental 24. The limited edition of only 24 examples will commemorate the brand’s return to the 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race.

This factory-modified Supersports will be based on its namesake Continental — the fastest road-going Bentley ever — bringing along with it 700hp and 1,017Nm of torque.

On the outside is where the exclusivity lies, most obviously from the bright Monaco Yellow or St James Red two-tone paint job, inspired by and in honour of the Bentley Team ABT Conti GT3 cars.

The paintwork stays relevant even on the 21-inch lightweight forged wheels, with matching colours filling the spokes. For a dash of sportiness, the mirrors are carbon fibre and the black-based scheme continues to the brake callipers and brightware in place of chrome.

Quilted stitching and flanks of the cabin come in the same colour.

Your colour of choice will also make its way into the interior of the car, where yellow or red accents punctuate the otherwise blacked-out trim and upholstery. You’ll notice this mainly on the contrasting quilted stitching on the black Alcantara seats, and the flanks of the cabin where it sweeps past gracefully. Of course, the headrests are emblazoned with “Continental 24”.

The fastest road-going Bentley ever is a suitable tribute to the brand’s Nürburgring participation.

Unsurprisingly, Europe will get all the fun, and prices for the Bentley Continental 24 will start at €250,000 (S$388,600). But if you fancy a something similar, you can get the regular Continental Supersports GT and have Bentley’s in-house coachbuilder Mulliner make your dreams come true.
