Just when we thought dual camera smartphones were the trend for this decade, a new contender has entered the ring with its triple camera system. Enter the Huawei P20 Pro.
The Chinese telecommunications giant has partnered with Leica again for the cameras in the P20 Pro. The most extravagant camera in the system is the 40-megapixel RGB sensor that’s paired with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The third camera, a 20-megapixel monochromatic one, sits right below the two aforementioned cameras.
You might be thinking: What is the point of three cameras? That was what we all thought too, when dual camera systems first came out. A few years on, our photos are all looking sharper and better than they did before.
With the P20 Pro, Huawei has developed an AI that recognises scenes and immediately glams them up. Panoramic photos contain more detail. Night shots are less grainy. Food pics look more real. You won’t need to add filters to your Instagram-ready photos anymore.

The Huawei P20 Pro (128GB) is available for pre-order now from the three major telcos, M1, Singtel, and Starhub at S$1,148 in two colours, black and midnight blue. A third colour, twilight, will be available end April.
