With the National Day parade returning to the Marina Bay Floating Platform this year after a two-year hiatus, the spotlight is back on the city’s skyline and the world-famous Marina Bay area. While we loved the awe-inspiring indoor pyrotechnics and high-tech performances at the National Stadium last year, we did miss some of the iconic moments such as the thrilling parachute sequence by the Red Lions skydivers. Thankfully, the latter will be back this year.
And while you may or may not approve of the cheesy (yet annoyingly catchy) National Day songs, the highlight of every year is definitely the beautiful fireworks display that lights up Singapore’s sky. Electrifying and perfectly complementing the futuristic skyline, it is truly a sight to behold.
If you’re not one to wrestle with the crowds along the Marina Bay to catch a glimpse of the fireworks, though, we suggest enjoying the views and marvelling at the stunning skyscrapers from the comfort of your own suite.
Many hotels are offering National Day packages leading up to 9 August, with some even offering promotions on the local fare served at their restaurants. From the historical Fullerton Hotel to the chic, Philippe Starck-designed JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, check out these suites where you can enjoy panoramic views while sipping on a glass of champagne to celebrate Singapore’s 52nd birthday.
With its floor-to-ceiling windows and rooms that offer sweeping views of the Marina, Mandarin Oriental Singapore makes the perfect place to treat yourself to the spectacular fireworks display.
Additionally, the hotel also offers dining experiences at its dining establishments on 9 August 2017, such as a locally inspired buffet dinner spread (from S$95 per adult) at Melt Café, or a lavish five-course set dinner (from S$168 per adult) at Dolce Vita, where you can indulge in delectable Italian cuisine.
