Spain is planning to reopen its borders by end June 2020

Come end of June, Spain might be reopening its borders to tourists around the world.

Spain’s economy is heavily dependent on tourists, and the country is famed for their good food, stunning architecture, hospitable locals and a vast coastline. Yet the pandemic has rendered this sector of the country completely useless by imposing a two-week quarantine on all overseas travellers and keeping borders closed.

Buoyed by slowing COVID-19 infections, the country is cautiously easing it’s lockdown measures in place since mid-March, said to be some of the strictest in Europe.

According to Transport Minister Jose Luis Abalos, border control is a temporary measure emphasising on the importance of making Spain an “attractive country from the health point of view.”
