Andaz has been aggressively expanding its portfolio in Asia. Last week, Hyatt Hotels announced a partnership with Galaxy Entertainment Group to develop a brand new property in Macau, expected to open in the first half of 2021. The move marks the entry of the Andaz brand into Macau, as well as the Greater Bay Area.
Andaz which means ‘personal style’ in Hindi, is known for tailoring the atmosphere of each property to suit its unique locale. As such, guests can likely look forward to a property that reflects the rich cultural influence of Portugal and China. “Macau has many stories to tell and is rich in history and culture,” said Mr. Francis Lui, Vice-Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group. “With Andaz Macau, we will work closely with Hyatt to create experiences that truly showcase what is special about this destination, while further contributing to the strength of Macau’s tourism and MICE industries.”
The Andaz Macau is expected to become a hotspot for business and leisure guests alike. The new hotel will comprise over 700 rooms and suites, an Andaz Lounge, a bar and restaurant, a state of the art fitness centre and an indoor pool. It will be directly connected to a new Galaxy International Convention Centre (Galaxy ICC) and a 16,000 Galaxy Arena, which will have a dedicated private lounge targeted at MICE guests. Both facilities are also expected to open in the first half of 2021. With the property linked to the Galaxy resort complex, guests will also have easy access to 11.8 million sq. ft. of entertainment, shopping, art and more than 120 dining outlets to choose from.
The news comes hot on the heels of the Andaz brand’s debut in South Korea; opened just last month, Andaz Seoul Gangnam joins other Andaz properties in Asia including Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. The Andaz Dubai The Palm is also expected to open in the final quarter of 2019, joining Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi as the second property in the United Arab Emirates. The Andaz currently has 21 properties across the US and Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
