Zhuhai, a prefecture-level city on the southern coast of Guangdong province in China, is characterised by its waving palm trees, serene long coastline, and its 146 islands off the Pearl River Delta. Known as the ‘Chinese Riviera’ or ‘City of Romance’, the city is also known for its cultural sites, Cantonese cuisine and seafood bounty.
The face of luxury in the tropical city is set to change this September with the opening of St. Regis Zhuhai, a 251-key hotel situated on the 41st to 72nd floors of the state-of-the-art Zhuhai Tower by Philadelphia-based Coscia Moos Architecture.
All 251 rooms and suites offer sweeping views of the ocean, river and hilly landscape. The guest rooms start at 60 square meters, and interiors blend gracious and artistic touches of Chinese traditions. Its crowning glory is the majestic Presidential Suite of approximately 1,100-square-meter. Each room is equipped with Bang & Olufsen sound system and the comfortable Frette sheets on all St. Regis’ beds.
The hotel boasts an array of first-class restaurants and lounges for an unparalleled dining experience. LaBrezza, led by Michele Tenzone (who has worked in 7 Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe), serves modern or organic Italian fare. Yan Ting, on the other hand, promises exquisite classic Cantonese fine dining, where individually crafted dishes are accompanied by the signature St. Regis service.
For those looking to wind down in the evening, the St. Regis Lounge exudes an aura of sophistication and elegance with its afternoon tea or signature Bloody Mary accompanied by classic jazz. Alternatively, Air 71, located on the 71st floor, allows guests to indulge in some of the city’s finest cocktails as well as an elaborate selection of wine and champagne while overlooking the illuminating cityscape.
Other state-of-the-art amenities include the Iridium Spa on the 68th floor, the well-equipped St. Regis Athletic Club, as well as an indoor and outdoor swimming pool located on the 69th and 71st floors respectively — which are set to be the highest pools in Zhuhai and Macau area in existence.
Additionally, due to its close proximity to Zhuhai Exhibition Centre — just steps away from the hotel — St. Regis Zhuhai, which also hosts MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) will be the perfect stay for business travellers, for both individuals or large corporate groups.
The St. Regis Zhuhai is slated to open on 16 September 2018.
