Since being appointed as creative director of Gucci in 2015, Alessandro Michele has built a splendid retro aesthetic of his own, drawing from eclectic cultural references throughout history such as ‘70s rock ‘n’ roll and ‘90s hip hop. This season, he’s making no exception for bags. Apart from the baby dragons and the severed mannequin heads seen at the Gucci Fall 2018 run way show, you might have noticed an intriguing accessory strutting down the catwalk — the new Gucci Rajah bags with multi-hued tiger heads crafted in brilliant metal.
Elegant yet determined, the tiger motif perfectly echoes with the woman that Michele champions: bold, daring and mysterious. Easily mixed and matched, the shoulder bag in medium size is one of the most appealing items in the Rajah line. Crafted in leather, crocodile or python snakeskin, the shoulder bag styles are embellished with a metallic tiger head motif accessorised with chromatic enamel and glittering crystals, referencing a brooch created by fabulous fashion and jewellery designer Hattie Carnegie in the ‘40s. It’s perfectly crafted with an interlocking ‘G’ horsebit bar which has become the fashion house’s most iconic detail. The new Rajah is also offered in a smaller size, spacious enough to hold your belongings but compact enough to transition easily from day to night. The bags can also be worn over the shoulder or cross-body using the antiqued chain strap.

As a new addition to the desired bags line created by Alessandro Michele, the tote has been crafted in Italy from smooth suede and features a black patent leather trim with the classic green and red stripe print down the middle. In addition, a removable zipped pouch inside makes for easy storing of your smaller belongings.
